Dr Richard Turner
Dr Turner is a respiratory clinician with broad experience. He prides himself on high standards of clinical care and good communication. After studying Biology at the University of Oxford, he completed his medical degree in Birmingham, and a PhD at Queen Mary University of London. He was a Consultant Respiratory Physician in London, at King’s College and Charing Cross Hospitals, for six years before moving to Queensland in 2022.
He provides individualised care in all aspects of respiratory medicine, including all diseases of the lungs and breathing. A particular area of interest and expertise is chronic (persistent) cough, a subject about which Dr Turner has published widely. Breathlessness, bronchiectasis, asthma, COPD, lung cancer, lung infections (including tuberculosis and NTM, non-tuberculous mycobacteria), pleural effusion, and pneumothorax are amongst the other conditions Dr Turner regularly treats.
Dr Turner is a Senior Medical Officer for Queensland Health, at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane, and Ipswich General Hospital. He is affiliated to the University of Queensland as a Senior Lecturer, remains active in research, and is an Associate Editor for the European Respiratory Journal Open Research. He is a member of the Queensland Tuberculosis Expert Advisory Group, Thoracic Society of Australia and NZ, and the European Respiratory Society.
Richard lives in Brisbane with his wife and three boys. Although a pom he believes he is integrating into Queensland life.
