Successful Launch of New Sleep Laboratory at John Flynn Private Hospital
The New Sleep Laboratory at John Flynn Private Hospital
Gold Coast Sleep Laboratory
Coastal Respiratory and Sleep Specialists has opened a purpose-built sleep laboratory at John Flynn Private Hospital on the Gold Coast.
The facility provides high-quality diagnostic and treatment sleep studies (polysomnography) for a wide range of sleep and respiratory disorders. Both in-lab (Type 1) and home-based (Type 2) studies are available, allowing thorough assessment and personalised treatment pathways.
A key feature of the sleep laboratory is transcutaneous carbon dioxide (TcCO₂) monitoring during overnight studies. This advanced capability allows accurate evaluation of nocturnal hypoventilation, continuous monitoring of carbon dioxide trends, and enhanced diagnostic confidence for conditions such as respiratory failure, restrictive lung disease, neuromuscular disorders, and complex sleep-disordered breathing.
By combining gold-standard polysomnography with real-time TcCO₂ data, the laboratory provides detailed and clinically robust assessments to support evidence-based treatment planning.
These services are available to patients, local clinicians, and the wider Gold Coast, Northern NSW and Brisbane community. Whether experiencing sleep apnoea, unexplained daytime sleepiness, chronic fatigue, or other sleep-related concerns, patients can access comprehensive evaluation and personalised care.
Referrals from clinicians can be submitted via the referrals page. For further information, contact Coastal Respiratory and Sleep Specialists.
